I denne artikkelen introducerer Brousselle & Champagne (2011) program teoretisk evaluering. Program teoretisk evaluering kan anvendes til at vurdere, hvorvidt et program er designet på et sådan måde, at det kan opnå de ønskede resultater. Forfattarane beskriver en særlig form for program evaluering - logik analyse - der gør det muligt at teste plausibiliteten af et programs bagvedliggende antagelser (teorien). Logik analyser er nyttige til at forbedre program design og prosessar, eller finde alternative løsninger for at opnå de ønskede resultater.

"Study protocols" fra randomiserte kontrollerte forsøk med arbeid som effektmål kan være relevante å ha kjennskap til når man skal legge til rette for evaluering av tiltak. Disse kan ofte hentes fritt fra relevante tidsskrifter. Eksempler herpå er:
